Ethan Lin was born in Fuzhou, China (almost directly across from Taiwan) on July 13, 1987. He spent very little of his childhood in China, and at age of 10, his family relocated to New York City, where he resided for two years. Disappointed with their children’s public school education, Ethan’s family once again packed up and headed to the mid-west namely McFarland, Wisconsin, where his parents started a restaurant business, and settled in permanently.
In his youth, Ethan enjoyed middle and high school like any other youth; however, he cultivated a deep love for learning about computers and web design & development. Being self-motivated, Ethan learned a lot both in and out of school, and graduated from McFarland High School in June 2005.
Since graduating high school, Ethan attended Madison Area Technical College, where in 2009, he received his Associate of Applied Arts degree in Visual Communication and Media Design. Shortly thereafter, he also received a certificate in Web Page Design. Currently, Ethan is employed at the University of Wisconsin Extension – Continuing Education, Outreach & E-Learning where he is one of the key players behind the scenes in designing web-based learning applications for students and faculty. Meanwhile, he also is attending Lakeland College for a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science.
Although Ethan is currently employed, he also does contracted/part-time web design and development for non profit organizations, small businesses, and individuals. Whenever his time allows him to do so, you can find Ethan helping out with the family business, or networking with professional on social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. Ethan hopes to one day soon be able to spread his wings further and provide his services in many other places outside of Wisconsin.
